Colby Art Museum Sponsors Trip to Sargent Exhibit at
Boston Museum of Fine Arts

The Friends of Art at the Colby Museum of Art are sponsoring a Tuesday, September 14, trip to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for an audio tour of the outstanding "John Singer Sargent" exhibition. A bus will leave Colby's Roberts Building parking lot at 7 a.m. and will return at 10 p.m. Cost of the trip is $45 per person.

The Sargent exhibition includes more than 150 of his greatest oils, drawings and watercolors and draws equally from his European and American careers. Sargent, one of the late 19th century's most talented painters and the most sought-after portraitist of Edwardian England and America's Gilded Age, was equally admired as a landscapist and mural painter. Trip participants will be given a guided thematic tour of portraits in the Museum of Fine Arts' permanent collection, an audio tour of "John Singer Sargent" and free time in Copley Place for shopping and dinner.

For further information on the Friends of Art trip or to reserve your spot, contact the Colby Museum of Art at 872.3228. Payment should be made by September 7.
