Clarinetist Eric Thomas Performs October 3 at Colby

Virtuoso clarinetist Eric Thomas will give a concert on Sunday, October 3, at Colby College in Waterville. The concert begins at 3 p.m. in Colby's Lorimer Chapel and is part of the 1999-2000 Music at Colby concert series.

The repertoire will include Kenneth Leighton's "Fantasy on an American Hymn Tune," Giuseppe Verdi's "Fantasy on Rigoletto" and Carl Reinecke's "Trio," as well as the premiere of "How To B flat Blues," a piece Thomas has written for the occasion.

A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and recipient of the prestigious Concert Artist Guild Award, Thomas is also director of the Colby Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble.

Thomas will be joined by cellist Diane Roscetti, director of the School of Performing Arts and associate professor of cello and chamber music at the University of Maine; pianist Cheryl Tschanz, adjunct assistant professor of music at Colby; violist Mary Jo Carlsen, applied music associate at Colby; and clarinetist Beth Wiemann, assistant professor of music at the University of Maine.
