Zephyros Wind Quintet Performs October 16 at Colby

The Zephyros Wind Quintet, one of America's brightest new entries on the chamber music scene, will give a concert on Saturday, October 16, at Colby College in Waterville. The concert begins at 8 p.m. in Colby's Lorimer Chapel and is part of the 1999-2000 Music at Colby concert series.

The performance will include works by Giulio Briccialdi, Benjamin Britten, Claude Debussy, Paul Hindemith, Gyorgy Ligeti and Endre Szervansky.

Since its formation in 1994, the Zephyros Quintet has established itself as one of the country's leading young wind quintet. Based in New York City, the quintet is composed of recent graduates of The Juilliard School and The Curtis Institute of Music. The group includes flutist Nadine Hur, oboist James Rose, clarinetist Michael Bepko, bassoonist Douglas Quint and Patrick Pridemore on French horn The group won first prize in the wind division and won the Zelser Grand Prize in the 1995 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition‹the first wind quintet to do so in the competition's 22-year history.

The Zephyros Wind Quintet has performed throughout the United States. Individually, members of the quintet have performed at the Marlboro, Tanglewood and Bard Music Festivals and with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra and the New York City Opera Orchestra.
