Microsoft Antitrust Witness to Lecture at Colby

Richard Schmalensee, lead witness for Microsoft in the U.S. Department of Justice antitrust trial against Microsoft, will present "Antitrust in the High Tech Industry: The Microsoft Case" at Colby College on Thursday, November 4. The 8 p.m. lecture will be held in Olin Science Center, room 01. It is open to the public free of charge and sponsored by the Colby economics department through the Christian A. Johnson fund.

Schmalensee is the Gordon Billard professor of economics and management and dean of the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. An internationally recognized industrial economist, he has served on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers in the White House. He is also the director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research at MIT and co-editor of The Handbook of Industrial Organization, volumes 1 and 2. Schmalensee holds a B.S. in economics, politics and science and a Ph.D. in economics from MIT.
