Colby Wind Ensemble Concert is November 6

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, in Colby College’s Lorimer Chapel, the Colby Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Eric Thomas, will perform its first concert of the season. The performance is open to the public free of charge.

The wind ensemble will perform six pieces: Pictures at an Exhibition No. 10, The Great Gate of Kiev, by Modest Mussorgsky, with wind orchestration by John Boyd; Dies Irae from Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem, arranged by Jay Bocook; and Symphonic Variations on a Theme, by Purcell, arranged for concert band by Edward J. Madden. Also scheduled to be performed are The Official West Point March by Philip Egner; A Grand Grand Overture, Opus 57, for Three Vacuum Cleaners, One Floor Polisher and Symphonic Band, arranged by Keith Wilson with soloists Ed Yeterian, Janice Kassman, Randy Helm and Avrum Vinick; and selections from Les Misérables by Claude-Michel Schönberg, arranged by Warren Baker.
