
Colby Collegium Musicum to Perform November 20
Colby Colleges Collegium Musicum will perform "From Chapel to Coffee House: Music by Purcell and His Contemporaries," on Saturday, November 20, at 8 p.m. in Lorimer Chapel. Directed by Kathryn Lowerre, the Colby Collegium Musicum specializes in music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and early Baroque periods. The concert is part of the 1999-2000 Music at Colby series. The public is invited and admission is free of charge.
The concert program will cover the range of music expressions London audiences enjoyed at the turn of the 18th century. A variety of moods and styles will be performed including music formerly used for social, stately, chapel and theatrical occasions.
Collegium Musicum includes Colby College students, faculty and staff along with local musicians.
