Lt. Melissa Maclin '98, U.S. Naval Intelligence, last spoke to a Colby audience nearly five years ago, when U.S. forces were concentrated in Iraq, not Afghanistan. At that time she called our attention to "Afghanistan: The Forgotten War."  After a number of tours in Afghanistan, Melissa is now assigned as the liaison between the U.S. Special Operations Command and the CIA.  She discussed the current situation in Afghanistan in the aftermath of the killing of bin Laden and the ongoing U.S. role in light of the Obama administration's intentions to reduce our presence there.
