Eleven students will spend the summer in Asia thanks to internship awards that provide up to $4,000 toward expenses for students from any discipline.

Ten students received Freeman Foundation Internship Awards and one received the John Roderick Internship Award. Internships can be with businesses, governments, research institutes, nonprofit organizations, and more. Students are selected based on how the specific internship will build on the student’s skills and knowledge, how it will contribute to the student's long-term goals and career trajectory, and the student’s academic distinction, according to Associate Professor of Art and East Asian Studies Ankeney Weitz. This year’s internship sites range from an orphanage in Vietnam to the Securities and Future Commission of Hong Kong.
