Trekkers Stop at Colby
Team Colby poses in front of the Colby mule after riding from Farmington to Waterville June 19.

Among the 2,400 bikers stopping at Colby on the Trek Across Maine will be Colby’s president, William D. Adams. The annual fundraiser for the American Lung Association takes place June 17-19, with bikers sleeping at Colby Saturday, June 18.

Due to road reconstruction on Campus Drive, bikers will enter Waterville on a different route this year—from County Road onto North Street hill, finishing at the Alfond Athletic Center parking lot on Colby’s campus. Drivers should be aware that bikers will begin arriving between 8 and 8:30 a.m.

On Colby’s campus, Roberts Road (from Campus Drive to the Roberts Building) will be closed, and Bixler Drive, in front of the Colby College Museum of Art, will allow traffic in both directions with flaggers. Museum patrons should park in the Roberts Lot.

Team Colby in BelfastThis is the first year President Adams has participated in the Trek. He and Nordic skiing coach Tracey Cote are leading team Colby, five bikers who had raised $3,115 before the ride began. The Trek Across Maine, a 180-mile ride from Sunday River to Belfast, takes place every Father’s Day Weekend.
