The Atlantic Music Festival, a month-long celebration of classical music performed by young musicians who are rising stars from around the world, takes place at Colby College in Waterville this summer.
A series of 10 concerts begins July 16.
The festival's goal is to cultivate originality, independence, and innovation in the American musical performance arena. Concerts are open to the public for free, but a donation of $15 is suggested, with donations of $25 or $50 encouraged. Tickets must be reserved in advance by clicking on the individual event listing at the festival's website: www.atlanticmusicfestival.org.
This is the third year the Atlantic Music Festival has convened at Colby. The performance schedule includes five Salon Concert events offering a variety of musical surprises including chamber and solo favorites. Events include:

Conductor Jonathan Schiffman leads the orchestra in works of Bartok, Mendelssohn and Schubert.

Atlantic Music Festival Orchestra II
Cellist Marco Pereira joins the AMF Orchestra in a performance of Haydn's cello concerto under the baton of Jonathan Schiffman. More Haydn and a new work by AMF Artistic Director Solbong Kim round out the program.

A chance for concertgoers to hear classical music and to mingle with festival students, fellows, faculty members, and staff in a relaxed, outdoor setting. Cost of the lobster bake is $45 per person (adults and children) for the public. Purchase tickets online.
