Colby's 191st Commencement | Sunday, May 20, 2012

CommencementDear Parent:

Plans are underway for the 191st Commencement at Colby College. The celebration of the Class of 2012 will begin Friday, May 18, with a lobster bake for graduates and their families/guests. Among the other events being planned for the weekend, on Saturday, May 19, a baccalaureate service, an evening commencement banquet, and a semiformal ball will be held. Commencement is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, followed by a graduation luncheon for graduates and guests.

At this time, your son/daughter is on the provisional list of students anticipated to graduate in May. Official standing will be confirmed once s/he completes all of the College graduation requirements.

Since many students will be visiting families over the winter holidays, I thought it might be helpful to forward a tentative schedule of commencement activities and to remind you to begin planning early for lodging, if you’ve not already done so. While Colby does not endorse any particular area hotel or motel, area listings can be found at www.colby.edu/accommodations. Unfortunately, no guest housing is available on campus.

In late March 2012, you will receive the final schedule of commencement weekend events with exact times andlocations, along with information about meals available on campus for purchase. If you have questions or concerns before that time, please contact my office at 207-859-4736 or by e-mail at krledger@colby.edu.

My best wishes to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Karen Farrar Ledger
