Anne Hull, national enterprise reporter for The Washington Post, received the 2008 Elijah Parish Lovejoy Award for courageous journalism and gave the annual Lovejoy convocation address on Sunday, September 28th to a packed audience in Ostrove Auditorium in the Diamond Building.

Hull and Dana Priest won the 2008 Pulitizer Prize for Meritorious Public Service for their articles in The Washington Post that exposed the abuse and neglect of American war veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Hull's stories, of wounded soldiers receiving sub-standard care while living in moldy rooms with rodent feces and cockroaches, prompted needed reforms. Hull has earned recognition for other reports, on what it's like to be young and gay in the American heartland, on immigrant experiences in the South, and on wounded soldiers coming home from Iraq.
