Schools emerge as new tactic in gay marriage votes

Opponents of same-sex marriage produced advertisements showing children learning about homosexuality in schools. "'It was very effective. It's drawing on the fears of the unknown,' said Sandy Maisel, director of the Goldfarb Center for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement at Maine's Colby College. 'There's no evidence that it's going to happen, but there's very clear evidence that it's an effective campaign tactic.'"

Colby Medical Director Paul Berkner is president of the Maine Concussion Management Initiative, an organization that is providing baseline cognitive testing for high school athletes in Maine, allowing coaches and trainers to know when a student athlete is ready to resume play.
