On Tuesdays we are no longer fourth graders.

When we step from our mothers' station wagons
roller skates in hand,
we are crimefighting disco queens
with feathered hair,
ready to ward off hairy men
in brown terrycloth jumpsuits.

Yes, our satin pants are constricting,
but we don't care.
They allow is to skate faster.
