Viscosity Girl

Viscosity is the slow
August heat wrapped
around the day like velvet.
Honey. A sadness in the heart
like stone. What flexes through sinew
and bone to the hidden
starfish center.

A thousand blinking nuances, each one
arrayed like sticky dabs of starlight.
Helix of birthcord desire,
sweet-sour grapefruit of addictions,
scent of resin, brine, tar, violets,
females netherpetals blooming
in the midday heat.

And this, my friend, is woman.
Whatever it is that writhes to be heard,
ripples like a Chinese dragon,
belts out the answering "Yes!"
my life, my heart,
breathe it in through your pores
and ripen.
