Economics Club and Student Advisory Board

The initial meeting we Economics faculty arranged to help in facilitating the formation of an Economics Club had a lot of interest which led to a great, wide-ranging discussion of activities and initiatives that students could engage with and contribute towards. The meeting ended with a call to arrange a second meeting, which we’ve scheduled for 10-11am on Tuesday (12/10, it’s the upcoming reading day) in Diamond 141. Students suggested that, at the upcoming meeting, a leadership structure will be determined and voted on. This will allow for the details of forming the official student-led Economics Club to be investigated. As mentioned at the initial meeting, one upcoming area where we faculty could use student participation and input involves the search for two new colleagues—candidates will be visiting our Department in January to present their work, discuss their research, teaching, and interest in joining our Department and, importantly, meeting with students.

If you are unable to attend the meeting on Tuesday, but would like to provide comments, feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you may do so at this Google form.

Looking forward to engaging with you all in this capacity and seeing this initiative materialize. In the meantime, good luck wrapping up the term!
