In the spirit of creativity and the improvisational nature of a Fringe Festival, we’re announcing a campus-wide open call to students in the Colby community interested in creating a visual identity to capture the spirit of Colby’s Fringe Festival. The winner’s artwork will be used to represent this year’s Festival in print and on the web, with the potential to be used for Fringe Festivals in the years to come.
The sky’s the limit for your design! The term “visual identity” may be interpreted as a logo, event branding, or however, you see fit. Your design can be INSPIRED by the Colby logo or seal and Colby’s colors. It can be a 3D sculpture. It can be a traditional 2D image. It can be anything you envision as representative of Colby, experimental art, innovation, and/or what “Fringe” means to you.
There are a few guidelines for successful designs: designs may not use the Colby logo wordmark or the Colby seal and designs may not infringe on someone else’s copyright. If the design incorporates a royalty-free work that requires credit, this is permissible, but be sure to give credit. Entries are limited to current Colby students.
The winning design will be selected by a committee appointed by the Department of Theater and Dance. The winner will receive swag featuring YOUR Fringe logo plus unlimited bragging rights.
Submissions may be an upload or link to a high-resolution PDF, JPG, photo, video of your entry, or invitation to visit your work. (Don’t be intimidated by the technical specifications; as long as we look at the proposal, we can help make it meet the qualifications.) If you are having issues with the form or have questions, please contact Marjorie at email@example.com.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:59 P.M.
Contest winners acknowledge that Colby may publish their logo and name(s) and may use the winning logo in future Colby marketing and promotional materials. Contest winners agree to provide Colby a license to use the logo for purposes in support of Colby and its Department of Theater and Dance. Additionally, as part of its license, Colby may alter, modify or revise the logo as it deems necessary. Colby reserves the right to not select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.
