The Mental Health Narratives is an event hosted by SHOC where Colby can come together to listen to members of our community share their experiences with mental health in a supportive and empowering environment. This semester’s Narratives will be a “return to form” and will not include a discussion element. Instead, the narratives this semester will conclude with a guided meditation to help the audience reflect on and process the narratives.
Have you considered telling your story of mental health? If so, SHOC is looking for submissions! The narratives can be about any experience regarding mental health, whether about oneself or friends/family. The stories are intended to spark learning in the community about an aspect of mental health that has impacted you. The author can choose to read their own narrative, or they can have it read anonymously by a member of SHOC. We encourage all submissions to be authentic and honest while also being thoughtful and respectful of the range of ways mental health may impact audience members at the event. Narratives may be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate whether you would like to read yourself, or if you would like your story read anonymously by a member of SHOC. Please limit submissions to 3-4 minutes or approximately 400 words and submit no later than November 4. If you have questions and comments, you can email them to email@example.com!
