ARAPAHO PROJECT  The site contains many links on Northern Arapaho language, history, storytelling, contemporary culture, and current issues.

SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION RESEARCH INFORMATION SERVICES  This service provides access to all Smithsonian Institution holdings of Arapaho documents and manuscripts, including photographs. If you type in "Arapaho" in the Search window, and all Arapaho related holdings will be displayed.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES RECORDS ADMINISTRATION: ARCHIVAL RESEARCH CATALOG   This research catalogue provides access to an index of all federal documents pertaining to the Arapaho tribes. A keyword search using Arapaho will bring up thousands of listings, so a more refined search by topic will narrow the results

WIND RIVER HISTORICAL CENTER This site has a searchable WASHAKIE ARCHIVES containing treaty documents, photographs, audio files, and oral history records pertaining to the Northern Arapaho of Wyoming.

AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY: DIVISION OF ANTHROPOLOGY  Offers access to images of over 900 Arapaho artifacts accessible through the "COLLECTIONS DATABASE." For "INPUT SEARCH CRITERIA" select "ARAPAHO." There are also many GROS VENTRE artifacts of interest to Arapaho research.

UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING, AMERICAN HERITAGE CENTER ONLINE CATALOG  This collection can be searched by keyword "Arapaho," displaying personal collections of manuscripts donated by scholars, such as Zdenek Salzmann, Loretta Fowler, and Virginia Trenholm.

DENVER PUBLIC LIBRARY WESTERN HISTORY PHOTO COLLECTION    Holds 145 online photographic images of Arapaho subjects.

COLORADO HISTORICAL SOCIETY LIBRARY   The CHS Library has Arapaho related material in both the RESEARCH COLLECTIONS and CATALOG.

PLAINS INDIAN MUSEUM DIGITAL IMAGE COLLECTION   You can search here for images of and descriptions of artifacts held at the Plains Indian Museum in Cody, Wyoming.

ARCHIVES OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC at INDIANA UNIVERSITY  The Indiana University IUCAT search system provides access to holdings in the Archives of Traditional Music, which has the nation’s largest collection of audorecordings of Northern and Southern Arapaho music and language.  The recordings were collected by various researchers, including James Mooney, Zdenek Salzmann, Judith Vander, LaMont West, George Bird Grinnell, Bruno Nettl, and others.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN: COLLECTIONS   There is no search function at this link, but you can find contacts and information about requesting information, such as images of collections.

OMAHA PUBLIC LIBRARY: PHOTOGRAPHS BY F.A. RHINEHART1898  The site contains images of twelve photographs of Southern Arapahoes from the Indian Congress of 1898.

IMAGING AND IMAGINING THE GHOST DANCE: JAMES MOONEY'S ILLUSTRATIONS AND PHOTOGRAPHS, 1891-1893  This site contains an article by Thomas W. Kavanagh about the photographs and illustrations taken by Mooney of the Arapaho Ghost Dance and used in his classic work.

SEGER COLONY AND THE CHEYENNE AND ARAPAHO INDIANS   The site contains census records, and documents, as well as many photographs, of Southern Arapaho historic persons, events,  and sites related to the Seger Colony, Oklahoma from the 1870s to early 1900s.

 

ST. STEPHEN'S MISSION RECORDS 1865, 1886- AT MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY SPECIAL COLLECTIONS & ARCHIVES  This site offers a  index to St. Stephen’s Mission and School administrative records, correspondence, reports, Jesuit papers,  photographs, and publications for 1865 and 1886 to the present.
