Nambu Foundation Fellowship
for Environmental Studies in Japan

The Nambu Foundation's Internship Programs place interns in the Japanese corporate environment.  The Summer Program offers two month internships at various japanese corporations for approximately 20 students each year.  The Spring Program offers internship opportunities to one or two students for five to six months at Pasona Inc.'s Public Relations Department, Japan's largest human resources corporation.

For both programs, interns will receive the following benefits:

The program is open to graduate, post-graduate and selected undergraduate students who have demonstrated intellectual curiosity, a proven academic record and a genuine interest in the history, culture, and language of Japan.

Candidates must be highly proficient in the Japanese language.  Good business writing skill in English is also required for Spring candidates.

Application deadline:  December 11, 1998 (for the Spring Program);  January 29, 1999 (for the Summer Program).

The Brian Kane Fellowship
A Year in the Mountains of Japan
 
        The Brian Kane Fellowship is a challenging and demanding but rewarding paid position in Kiyosato, a town located in the Yatsugatake region of Yamanashi prefecture.  The fellowship was established in 1976 by the American Committee for KEEP, Inc. as a volunteer opportunity to serve the needs of KEEP (Kiyosato Educational Experiment Project), a Christian-based community development project, and its surrounding communities.  It became a full-time salaried position in 1991.  The Fellow performs an important role in helping KEEP reach its goals in the areas of environmental education, international outreach and international exchange and understanding.

The Washington Women's Committee
for American Student to Japan
One-year scholarship to
Japan International Christian University or Japanese College of your choice

Applicants to JICU will receive $9,000 toward tuition, room, board and fees for one year of undergraduate study at Japan International Christian University in Tokyo  (ICU).  Applicants to another Japanese college or university will receive $6,000.

Eligibility:  US citizens who are first or second year students currently enrolled full time in a college or university in Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia, or who are residents of this area but enrolled elsewhere.  This scholarship is contingent upon the applicant's acceptance by the Japanese college or university selected.
