ColbyCard

The ColbyCard is a one-card system designed to provide a convenient way for students to gain access to residence halls and dining halls and to use services such as the library and laundry, copy, and snack machines.  The card incorporates proximity technology for access control, a magnetic stripe for dining services, data chip technology for laundry, vending, and copying and bar code technology for library services.  The ColbyCard Office is located in the Garrison Foster Building on the ground floor.

ACCESS TO CAMPUS FACILITIES

The campus buildings and facilities are accessible to members of the campus community and to guests and visitors during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, and for limited designated hours in the evening and on weekends.

The card access system is being expanded to certain academic buildings. After hours access to these buildings will be by Colby ID Card only. Exterior door locks will be changed and exterior door keys will no longer work. During business hours doors that are normally unlocked will continue to be unlocked. If you use a locked door to gain access into a building now and we do not put a card reader on that particular door, it will no longer be available for key access. For safety and security reasons access to all buildings will be more restricted than in the past. Because of these restrictions access into these buildings will be a little less convenient, but still available. Card readers will not be attached to every exterior door, but to doors that are currently used for after hour access.

Mudd Open 7:00am to 11:00pm

After hour access will be available to anyone with a current Colby ID Card. Faculty and staff members with the old type ID card will need to go to the Card Office in the Garrison Foster Health Center Building for a new Colby Card.

ACCESS TO RESIDENCE HALLS

Colby College residence halls are locked 24 hours a day throughout the academic year and during College breaks.  While classes are in session all currently enrolled students have access to all residence halls from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday by way of their ColbyCard.  Students have access to the residence hall in which they live 24 hours a day.  There are phones at the entrances of each residence hall available for use by visitors and guests so that they may call the person they are visiting in that building to gain entry.  Residential Life staff are available in each residence hall on a regular basis, and security officers and student patrols make rounds through each residence hall on a regular basis.
