Welcome to the Colby Photography Club

Since the founding of the Photography Club, it has grown and accomlished a great deal in making its presence known at Colby. We currently have one main darkroom in Roberts Union as well as a smaller darkroom in the Bixler art building. Plans are being made to renovate the darkroom in Roberts to make it easier and more efficent to use. There are also three different Photography courses currently being offered at Colby (See Events & Classes ).

The Photography Club is made up of students from the Colby community with Professor Sam Atmore as the faculty advisor. The club meets monthly to discuss new ideas and club issues. In addition to club meetings, we occasionaly hold mini classes, taught by students, to teach others a specific area of interest in photography. Mini Class topics range anywhere from 'Choosing the right film' to 'How to print in color'.

The semester club dues give members unlimited access to the darkroom, chemicals and printing and developing equipment. Members are responsible for their own camera equipment, film and printing paper. However, frequent supply orders are made where members are encouraged to buy their supplies together by the bulk, to reduce costs.

The Photography Club is still very young and growing. If you would like to join, please contact Professor Sam Atmore to find out how. Everyone from the Colby community is welcome to join, no previous photography experience is needed.
