The Project Ally Training Emblem:
Designed by Erin Wilkes '00.
The Colby Ally symbol conveys a positive message to the college community, particularly to GLBITTQ students, to Waterville, and to other college campuses. The person displaying the sticker (obtained through a short training session) or button is one who will be non-judgmental and trustworthy. The symbol incorportates Colby's colors and a pink and black triangle. The inverted pink triangle was used by the Nazis to label gay men in concentration camps and the black triangle was used to label lesbians (and other women deemed "antisocial"). These symbols have been adopted as symbols of lesbian and gay identity and self-esteem.
