Alyssa Lepore
Lab Manager
Alyssa is our esteemed leader. She is in charge of schedules and inventory. She keeps us and the lab organized and mediates the chaos.

Tory Gray
Research Assistant
Team Schizophrenia
Tory has been working in the lab since June 2010. Over the summer Tory and John discovered that adolescent choline supplementation prevented MK-801 induced declines in anhedonia. She will also be collaborating with Lia and Angelica on an addiction study.

John Gardner
Research Assistant
Team Schizophrenia

John also joined the lab in June 2010 and has been studying, along with Tory, the protective capacity of adolescent choline supplemetnation in a rat model of schizophrenia. John is also working on a collaborative project that were doing with the Lehmann lab in Canada.

Arielle Saporta
Senior Project Researcher Team Depression
This is Arielle's second year in the laboratory. Last year she discovered that the effectiveness of the antidepressant imipramine to combat the stress of forced swimming was significantly enhanced by adolescent choline supplemenation. This year she will expand on this finding.

Alessandra Welker
Senior Project Researcher
Team Depression
Alessandra recently joined the lab and will be studying the molecular and genomic signatures of adolescent choline supplementation. Her work will allow us to understand the potential mechanisms by which dietary choline is antidepressant.
  Natasha Atkinson
Senior Project Researcher
Team Schizophrenia
Natasha also joined the lab this Fall and she will be following up on more comprehensively on Tory & John's finding that choline supplementation combats anhedonia in a rat model of schizophrenia by looking at D2 receptors in the nuclues accumbens.

Lia Englested
Senior Project Researcher
Team Addiction

Lia joined the lab this Fall to pursue an intruiging question that arose in a class we had together: Does enhanced neural plasticity induced by choline supplementation increase the likelihood of drug addiction? Stay tuned.
  Nora McCall
Independent Study
Team Depression
Nora has been conducting research off and on in the lab for nearly a year. This year she will be building on her past research by assessing levels of hippocampal neurogenesis and growth factor expression in rats as a function of choline availability and learning ability.

Sam Gillies
Research Assistant
Team Depression

Sam joined the lab this Fall. She will primarily be working with Arielle to investigate the antidepressant properties of adolescent choline supplementation.
  Angelica D'Aiello
Research Assistant
Team Addiction
Angelica also joined the lab this Fall. She will primarily be working with Lia and Tory to explore the hypothesis that choline supplemented rats may be more vulnerable to the rewarding properties of some psychoactive drugs.
Derek Wise
Research Assistant
Team Schizophrenia

Another new team member this Fall, Derek, will be working primarily with Natasha to study the regulation of D2 receptor function and anhedonia by choline availability in a rat model of schizophrenia.
