Lab and Colby Alums in Graduate SchoolClass of 2008
Cheryl Hahn (Colby '08) is attending the University of Virginia in the PhD program in Social Psychology, working with Tim Wilson and the rest of the social psychology faculty. Class of 2006
Gabe Adams (Colby '06) is in the PhD program in Organizational Behavior in the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is working with several different faculty members, including Dale Miller on her main interest in justice research. Katie Chamberlin (Colby '06) is at the Yale University School of Nursing for a Master of Science in Nursing, moving toward her career goal of being a nurse practitioner.
Steen Sehnert (Colby '06)is in the PhD program in Psychology at Columbia University, working the Tory Higgins lab, along with another Social Motivation Lab alum (from the lab's Gettysburg College days), Columbia graduate student Abby Scholer.
Kate Zeigler (Colby '06) is also studying at Stanford University, pursuing her graduate study not in psychology, but in the English Department for an MA in English Literature. Class of 2005Logan Buchanan (Colby '05) was one of the original members of the Colby Social Motivation Lab. She is now a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a Master of Science in Information Studies degree in the School of Information.
Matt Ruby (Colby '05), after a year in Germany on a Fulbright Scholarship, is working on his PhD studies in the Psychology Department at the University of British Columbia and is a member of Steve Heine's Culture and Self Lab. Class of 2004
Jeremy Jamieson (Colby '04) worked with Sarah Estow and Jen Yates while at Colby. He is now working on his PhD in Social Psychology with Steve Harkins at Northeastern University.
Natasha Fedotova (Princeton '04) was a member of the Princeton lab, and stayed on after graduation to continue working with John Darley. She is now a graduate student in Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, working with Paul Rozin. Class of 2003
Luck Dookchitra (Princeton '03) will be starting work on her PhD in Management at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business next fall. Luck has been working in the private business sector since graduating from Princeton, and is now ready to get back to academics and to social psychology in a business context.
Pam Sawyer (Colby '03) did her work in Social Psychology with Bill Klein when she was at Colby. She is now working on her PhD in Social Psychology in Brenda Major's Self and Intergroup Relations Lab.
Lauren Rigney (Princeton '03) was a founding member of the lab when it was located at Princeton University (where her Senior Thesis won the Edward E. Jones Award). Lauren (the basket ball player and coach) earned an MS in Exercise and Sport Studies from Smith College while also coaching. Now Lauren (the psychologist) is in the graduate program in Psychological Counseling at Monmouth University. Class of 2000
Abby Scholer (Gettysburg '00), a member of the lab when it was located at Gettysburg College, is a graduate student in Social Psychology and a member of the Tory Higgins lab at Columbia University. Abby has accepted a new tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Gettysburg College, so she is headed back to her alma mater. Congratulations Abby! Bill (PhD University of Minnesota) is Professor of Psychology at UT Austin and was one of the first graduates of the Gettysburg lab to go into Social Psychology. Strangely, he has ended up being older than Thane!
Jan (PhD SUNY Buffalo) is Professor of Psychology at the University of Akron and was also one of the first graduates of the Gettysburg lab to go into Social Psychology (but somehow has managed to end up much younger than Bill).
Tim (PhD University of Kansas) is Professor of Psychology at the University of Utah. Tim went from the Gettysburg lab to the clinical program at Kansas. Strangely, Tim has ended up being older than... no, guess not.
Janet (PhD Princeton University) is Professor of Psychology at Gettysburg College. Janet went to the Social Psychology program at Princeton. and later returned to her alma mater. And most fortunately for her alma mater's faculty, students, and alums, she is now the Provost and will become the Interim President at the end of this academic year.
Kate (PhD University of Texas at Austin) is Associate Professor of Psychology at Butler University. Kate went from Gettysburg College to UT Austin to work with Bill Swann and Dan Gilbert in the Social Psychology program.
Kenworthey (PhD Princeton University) is an Assistant Professor at the Northwestern University Law School. Kenworthey worked primarily wtih John Darley at Princeton and was also an important part of the Social Motivation.
Portia Dyrenforth (Colby '00) did her work in Social Psychology at Colby with Bill Klein. She has finishing her studies in the Social/Personaligy program at Michigan State University and is now at Hobart and William Smith Colleges where she is in her first yearl as an Assistant Professor of Psychology. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
