Summary
A film about the horrors the 15th century monk and icon painter, Andrei Roublev experiences as he descends into a "Dante like" journey thorough medieval Russia. This experience breaks his soul and drives him into a vow of silence. Not until the film's full and glorious end does Roublev realize that he has no excuse not to speak or paint, no matter how repressive the world around him is.
