The ColbyCard is a one-card system designed to provide a convenient way for students to gain access to residence halls and dining halls and to use services such as the library and laundry, copy, and snack machines. The card incorporates proximity technology for access control; a magnetic strip for dining services; data chip technology for laundry, vending, and copying; and bar code technology for library services. The ColbyCard Office is located in the Garrison-Foster Building on the ground floor.
Access to Campus Facilities
Campus buildings and facilities are accessible to members of the campus community and to guests and visitors during normal business hours Monday through Friday and for limited designated hours evenings and weekends.
Access to Residence Halls
Colby residence halls are locked 24 hours a day throughout the academic year and during College breaks. While classes are in session, all currently enrolled students have access by way of their ColbyCard to all residence halls from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Students have access to the residence hall in which they live 24 hours a day. There are phones at the entrances of each residence hall available for use by visitors and guests so that they may call the person they are visiting in that building to gain entry. Residential Life staff are available in each residence hall on a regular basis, and security officers and student patrols make rounds through each residence hall on a regular basis.
