The primary responsibility of the Tour Guide is to conduct campus tours for prospective students, parents and various other College visitors. Tour guides will be required to assist with special tours (e.g., open houses, group visits, Saturday tours, historically busy days). Tour Guides are expected to host students or find a peer to host students once per semester. Tour Guides may be asked to assist with various other admissions and financial aid activities and projects. Tour guides will receive training throughout the school year.
Candidates for this positions must be comfortable greeting the public and be confident speaking in front of both large and small groups of people. Competitive applicants have broad experiences at Colby both socially and academically, and can communicateeffectively with diverse populations. Candidates should have a wide range of academic and student life experiences as well as be knowledgeable about Colby's initiatives and understanding of the value of a diverse, inclusive and accessible community. Note: Community Advisors are eligible but limited to 3 hours per week and Area Resident Directors are ineligible. Candidates must be currently enrolled students for the entire duration of employment.
