Duties:
This position requires extensive training and knowledge of commencement events and facilities at Colby. Typically a student would begin to train for this position in his/her first year of employment and be ready to assume the assistant position in the third year of work. This position supervises and trains approximately 60 ushers for various commencement weekend events, trains other office staff to help with commencement mailings and questions regarding meals, lodging, events, etc., and staffs several of the key commencement weekend events, serving as the event staff on duty.   |
Qualifications:
This staff person needs to have a high level of skill with the computer (Excel, Filemaker, Skipjack, Word, etc.), be familiar with the reimbursement process, have above average interpersonal skills dealing with parents/families/graduates in person as wellas via telephone, fax and email. Student needs to work with little to no supervision and needs to comfortable making immediate decisions, often without the input of the Commencement Chairperson. The student in this position works on the parent/family commencement meal system. The student is required to work - Commencement day.   |
