Project Assistants for Humanities assists the Humanities Librarian(s) with a wide variety of special projects related to literature, philosophy, classics, and modern languages. Projects may include, but are not limited to: Assist in collection development. Collaborate on displays. Maintain assigned LibGuide Web pages, suggesting updated resources, related faculty publications, and tie-in with campus events and courses. Pull books for consults, classes, guides, and displays. Write for Echo, Libraries'newsletter, etc. as a student voice of the Libraries. Maintain a calendar of events, write a blog, Facebook, and Twitter entries with library news, events, and displays throughout the year. Other projects may include library collections initiatives.
Humanities major or minor required. Preference is given to students with library research experience or previous work experience in the Colby College Libraries. Proficiency in a combination of the following technologies is preferred: MS Office, Photoshop (or other image editing software), web authoring software, FinalCut (or other video editing software). Must be dependable, meticulous, and highly responsible, with the initiative to work independently on projects and meet deadlines. 8-10 hours per week; maximum of 12 hours.
