Project Assistants reports to the Scholarly Resources Librarian - Social Sciences and Humanities, and will engage in a wide variety of special projects. The may include, but not be limited to: research on a wide variety of topics, literature reviews, course preparation, subject guide preparation, ethnographic transcription and support, exhibits, and evaluation of library services and Web sites. Expertise, or the ability and interest to gain needed expertise, in a variety of technologies and databases is required, along with attention to detail and the ability to work independently and reliably on ongoing projects.
Knowledge of library research is desirable; preference will be given to students majoring or intending to major in a subject area covered by the Librarian. Previous work experience in the Library may be helpful. Must be dependable, accurate and highly responsible, with the initiative to work independently on projects and meet deadlines. 6-7 hours per week; maximum of 12 hour. Schedule days and times may be flexible, depending on the needs of the Librarian. Must be willing to work a consistent number of hours throughout the semester, up through the final week of classes.
