Support the Technical Director in sustaining the quality of stagecraft employed in Theater and Dance Department productions and in maintaining the Runnals Union theater facilities. Primary responsibilities include assisting with the supervision of Stagecraft classes and student club work calls when necessary, mentoring Scene Shop Assistants, researching materials and pricing for department productions, preparation for Stagecraft classes (including technical drawings, cut lists, and construction analysis),recruiting volunteers for running crews, and working with tutoring companies using Strider Theater, when appropriate. It is also necessary for the Assistant Technical Director to attend all strikes.
TD 131 or TD139 with a grade of 89.50 or better. Any combination totaling one year's experience: Scene Shop Assistant, TD239, or TD339 (with a grade of 89.50 in each course). Ability to read/analyze drafting to construct and handle scenery and lighting.Ability to maintain productive working relationships w/others, establish priorities for other workers and make regular time commitments (usually during Stagecraft classes). Ability to work on ladders and in other high places. Ability to compensate for anyhealth conditions in relation to physical demands on position (heavy lifting, sawdust/paint fumes, etc.). Proficient with all standard scene shop tools, materials, and hardware.
