Academic Affairs Committee:

The Academic Affairs Committee oversees curriculum and educational policies. It also addresses any issues relating to the Bookstore as necessary.

Administrative Committee:

The Administrative Committee advises the President on administrative matters not primarily involving academic policy; considers and makes recommendations on requests for exemptions from College regulations; periodically reviews the College calendar and functions and structures of the committees of the College and recommends changes to the faculty meeting and to the Student Government Association; receives reports from the Committee on Standing on their decisions.

Admissions and Financial Aid Committee:

The Admissions and Financial Aid Committee recommends and reviews admissions policy and is available to the Office of Admissions for consultation, advice, and support regarding special cases of admission and other issues; recommends and reviews financial aid policy and acts as an advisory group and sounding board to the Director of Financial Aid.  (Note: Bunche Scholars and International Admissions remain subcommittees).

Off-Campus Study Advisory Committee:

The Off-Campus Study Advisory Committee develops and recommends policy regarding foreign and domestic off-campus study to the Academic Affairs Committee and coordinates the work of the departmental liaisons to the Office of Off-Campus Study; meeting in executive session without students present, the committee makes recommendations for action on student applications referred to it by the Director of Off-Campus Study and hears appeals from students who wish to contest the disposition of their applications for off-campus studies.

Athletics Advisory Committee:

The Athletics Advisory Committee provides general oversight and advice regarding planning, staffing, scheduling, policy-making and policy review for the Department of Athletics.

Bias Incident Prevention and Response (BIPR)

The BIPR team is charged with responding to bias incidents involving members of the Colby community and working with other appropriate individuals, offices, and organizations to foster a climate of openness and inclusion on campus.  The team will also perform an educational role in fostering a climate of civility and mutual respect.

Budget Committee:

The Budget Committee reviews the annual and projected budget with the administration before its presentation to the Board of Trustees. The committee makes suggestions to the administration as to the adequacy of budgetary provisions for College programs and activities in relation to the College’s resources.

College Affairs Committee:

The College Affairs Committee will oversee the co-curricular program, and will formulate and recommend policies concerning student life to appropriate bodies (e.g., to the Faculty and to the Student Government Association) except for the curriculum and academic requirements.

Conduct Board

The Conduct Board overseas student-to-student disputes.

Cultural Events Committee:

The Cultural Events Committee allocates undesignated College lecture funds together with funds made available by the Student Association and recommends the summer reading for the incoming class

Financial Priorities Committee:

Financial Priorities Committee submits to the President its comments and recommendations concerning the adequacy of the College’s programs and activities in relation to the College’s resources; reviews the budget with the administration before its presentation to the Board.

Healthcare Advisory Committee:

The Healthcare Advisory Committee advises the Medical Director and the Dean of the College on matters related to College health services and health education.

Independent Study Committee:

The Independent Study Committee, which selects qualified students to do independent study in lieu of two courses each semester of their senior year (as Senior Scholars) and reviews applications of students designing independent majors.

Information Technology Committee:

The Information Technology Committee shall oversee strategic direction for the use of information technology at the College, making recommendations to other Committees or Administrative Officers as appropriate. This oversight involves review of significant goals, programs, and policies, as well as the relation of these goals, programs, and policies to important choices involving hardware, software, infrastructure, staffing, and financial support. Although the Committee has limited membership, the Committee wishes to open discussion of these issues as widely as possible and invites students, faculty, and staff to identify items of concern, to raise questions, to offer suggestions or to attend the meetings as guests at any time.

Library Committee:

The Library Committee advises the Director of the Colby Libraries on matters of policy and regulations governing library use by students and faculty, on facilities, and on library purchases.

Parking Ticket Appeal Committee:

The Committee meets on a monthly basis to approve parking ticket appeals.

Student Security Advisory Committee:

The Student Security Advisory Committee communicates with the Director and Assistant Director of Security on matters related to College security issues.

The Committee on Diversity and InclusionThe Committee on Diversity and Inclusion meets regularly to discuss issues related to diversity and inclusion in all sectors of the Colby community: students, staff, administration, and faculty. It makes recommendations related to community education, programming, and policies to be pursued by the appropriate bodies on campus. It can provide a public forum for the Colby community to engage with issues related to diversity and inclusion.



Colby Affirmation Committee:

The Colby Affirmation Committee works in conjunction with Campus Life, theAdministration, and fellow students to maintain the relevance of the Affirmation in the lives of students and promote the values of academic and social integrity, honesty, and respect to our campus community.

Dining Services Committee

Dining Services committee works to represent student opinion in Colby’s dining experiences, through bringing more student-oriented food programming and enhancing student participation in philanthropic outreach.

Housing and Facilities Advisory Committee

The Housing Committee works on continually improving the housing system at Colby.

Oversight of Clubs on Campus (OCOC)

OCOC is comprised of both students as well as a member of campus life. This committee  helps to work on increasing communication amongst clubs, helps to consolidate clubs when possible and also helps with the creation of new clubs.

Publicity Committee

The Publicity Committee works with the SGA Publicity Chair to publicize the activities and events of the Student Government. The Publicity Committee will also work on coordinating student outreach events for the campus.

Student-Alumni Engagement Committee

The Student-Alumni Engagement Committee is an opportunity for students to take an active role in interacting with Colby College alumni and the Office of Alumni Relations. The committee’s main goal is to coordinate conversations, programs, and resources between alumni and students. The committee serves to manage events between alumni, alumni groups, and student organizations. The committee will assist with engaging alumni with campus on-goings. The committee will serve as a resource for students that want to further connect and receive assistance and support from alumni.

Traditions Committee

The Traditions Committee works on looking into Colby traditions and reinstating them. Thus, while the committee must look into Colby’s history, it is also important to note that while that they want the tradition to continue into the future. Also, it is important to publicize the tradition to the rest of the student body.
