Founded in 1959, the Colby College Museum of Art serves as a teaching resource for Colby and is a major cultural destination for the residents of Maine and visitors to the state. With nearly 8,000 works of art, the museum has built an important collection that specializes in American and contemporary art with additional, select collections of Chinese antiquities, European paintings, and works on paper. With the addition of the Alfond-Lunder Family Pavilion in 2013, the museum is now the largest art museum in the state of Maine. The museum is open to the public and is free of charge.
Located in the lobby of the Colby Museum of Art, a café offers a selection of Starbuck’s coffee, tea, and beverages and a selection of upscale sandwiches, salads, snacks, and desserts. The café operates during regular museum hours and is open to the public.
