New Concentration in Women,
Science, Technology, and Society (WSTS)
-- administered by the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality
Studies Program
Conceptually and historically, women have been excluded
from the institutions and practices of Western science. The
concentration in Women, Science, Technology, and Society
uses the categories of sex and gender to analyze the complex
interrelationships and of science, technology, and society,
the social basis of the development of science, and the
organization of society itself. Students investigate the
varieties of women's experience in areas such as the natural
and built environments, health and medicine, social and
educational institutions, reproductive technologies, and the
workplace. |
