Julie
Goell grew up in Rome where she learned from the masters of Commedia
dell'Arte. As a performer in Europe, she worked in music, theater,
film, television, and recording. Ms. Goell toured with the clown troupe
"I Gesti" and taught physical comedy skills at Teatro Studio
in Rome where she got her teacher certification for physical comedy.
She
acted in the Broadway production of Ghetto and directed several
U.S. regional productions in the comic vein. Ms. Goell plays bass with
the Casco Bay Tummlers klezmer band and tours with her solo mopera Opening
Night...Carmen which previewed at Diorama Arts Center in London.
Ms. Goell also teaches at Dell'Arte and is a theater adjunct at the
University of Southern Maine. She trained and choreographed Commedia
for Sarasota Opera's Ariadne auf Naxos. She
has taught at the Max Rheinhardt Schule in Berlin, Boston University,
and San Francisco State, among others.
