Performance History Course Cycle
The department's theater and performance history sequence is organized conceptually, rather than chronologically, and contains material on both Western and non-Western performance forms. Students are encouraged, but not required, to take the courses in numerical order. All three courses are cross-listed with the English department. The cycle through the 2008-2009 year is as follows:

2008-2009
TD 224 Performance History I: Religious/Ritual Theater and Performance. (Fall)
TD 226 Performance History II: Popular Secular Theater and Performance. (Spring)
TD 228 Performance History III: Elite, Intellectual and Political Theater and Performance. (Spring)

Note: Note: Please see Course Offerings for more detailed information about each course or contact Laura Chakravarty Box at x4523 or lchakrav@colby.edu. Please check with the English Department to see which courses receive pre-1800 or post-1800 credit for the English major.
