Tracy
Hamler Carrick, Director
|
| |
I
have been working in writing centers since 1993, collaborating
with curious, creative, earnest writers to compose texts that
matter. With them, I have witnessed how writers can use words
as tools for making or representing change--in themselves,
at home, across the globe. As Adrienne Rich boldly challenged:
"You must write, and read, as if your life depended upon
it"--because it probably does!

Theriault '02, Assistant Director
|
| |
This
is my second year as Assistant Director of the Writers' Center.
I love my job because I get to listen to my favorite G Love
CD all day long while I'm working with great people and the
writing they produce. I can't wait to welcome you to the Writers'
Center--the only place in the Street where you can get free
coffee and lots of writing love. |

Burd '05
|
| |
Megan is majoring in Philosophy and minoring in Creative Writing.
She has discovered the meaning of everything (for those of
you who are wondering, it is not 42), but due to budget and
space constraints, she cannot elaborate on it here.

Elizabeth
Johnson '05
|
| |
Elizabeth is a senior English major from Richmond, Virginia.
This is her first year tutoring in the Writers' Center, and
boy, is she excited. Elizabeth likes reading, writing, apples
and friends. One day, she'll think of something really witty
she should have used to conclude her Writers' Center bio.

I
am a senior Enlgish major with a Creative Writing concentration
and an Art minor. This summer, I was a guide at the Niagra
Falls Barrel Diving School until a freak accident preceded
my dismissal. After that, I went on the lam and found myself
wrestling gators in the Florida marshlands. Boy, is it good
to be back at Camp Colby.

Enjoys spending his free time out of the classroom. Hobbies
include monitoring stasis, reading poetry, and dressing well.
Can often be found catching a quick nap or filling his gallon
jug of water. Please don't disturb him in either case.

Emily
Allen '06
|
| |
Emily
is an English major with a concentration in Creative Writing.
She plays softball fanatically, and she loves to wrap things
in pretty paper. Were it not for orange juice and "that blue
stuff," Emily would not be who she is today. Yay for tutoring!

|
Emilie
Coulson '06
|
| |
As
the third Emily in her class to become a tutor at the Writers'
Center, Emilie decided to spell her name differently and go
abroad first semester to make sure no one gets confused. She's
back from Chile now, ready for freezing cold Maine and a lot
of tutoring!

|
Carolyn
Findeisen '06
|
| |
Carolyn
is a junior International Studies major with a minor in Education.
As a telemark skier, she follows the motto "Drop knees, not
bombs." Summer camp is also an important part of her life.
|
|
Claire
Jimenez '06
|
| |
Claire
is a junior English major whose many hobbies include some
kind of sporting activity, listening to a certain kind of
music, keeping track of various current events which interest
her, and not getting her bio in on time.

Hi!
I am a junior American Studies major, and this is my second
year in the Writers' Center. I look forward to seeing you
there!

|
Greg
Patch '06
|
| |
Greg
is a junior English major minoring in Administrative Science.
He will be studying abroad in the rain and fog of jolly Olde
England during the Spring semester. His favourite things are
writing, the colour red, and adding Us to words that don't
really need them.

Rachel
Walton '06
|
| |
Taking
time off from some good Midwestern living, I came out East
to see how it's done here. Oh, and to get an education. When
not studying psychology, I can be found talking politics,
singing karaoke, reading obscure poetry, and writing, of course!

"We
are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an
act, but a habit" (Aristotle).

|
Ted
Wright '06
|
| |
Ted
is junior History major with an Economics minor. If he seems
in a bad mood at any point this Fall, it's probably just because
the Red Sox have broken his heart again. He's generally quite
friendly. Anyway, hurry up and get into the Writers' Center
now; Ted will be heading to Spain for the Spring semester.
|
|
Liz
Wyckoff '06
|
| |
Liz
is an English major with a Creative Writing concentration
who likes being tall. She's excited to be spending her Spring
semester abroad in Florence, although it is rather unfortunate
that she will be surrounded by short Italian men. It is also
important to note that one of Liz's life-long goals is to
become the fifth member of the Teen Girl Squad. Let's get
yogurt!

|
John
DeBruicker '07
|
|
|
Hailing
from Haverford, PA, John prides himself on his uncanny resemblence
to Wayne Arnold of "The Wonder Years;" his campus
golf expertise; and his colossal, eclectic and tasteful MP3
collection. He is very excited about his room in the Treworgy
basement, the Philadelphia Eagles acquisition of Terrell Owens,
and his first year of working with exciting new people at
the Writers' Center.

Mindy
Favreau '07
|

I
am a French and English major, with a Creative Writing concentration.
I like to eat at Bob's and play around by the pond. This is
my first year as a tutor, and I am very excited to be joining
the Writers' Center staff!
|
|
Lucy
Hitz '07
|
| |
I'm
an Art History and English double major with an Italian minor,
a penchant for Zebra cakes, Simon and Garfunkel, my hometown
NYC, and, yes, writing.

|
Drew
Moreland '07
|
|
|
Drew
is a low-key Californian with an attitude that can handle
pretty much anything you throw at him (please, nothing sharp).
He's not ashamed to say that writing and tutoring are fun.
So come in and say hello.

I'm
a sophomore would would love to be quadruple majoring in Classics,
Environmental Science, English, and History, if only that
were allowed. I love reading random pieces of writing from
any subject, and so I'm looking forward to a great year at
the Writers' Center!
