Colby is pleased to announce Ben Lisle’s appointment as assistant professor of American Studies, which begins September 2019. Professor Lisle first joined the American Studies faculty in 2011 in a visiting position. Since then he has taught courses at Colby in urban history, cultural geography, and digital humanities. He has also served as project coordinator for Digital Maine, a platform for digital scholarship about local communities. His book, Modern Coliseum: Stadiums and American Culture (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2017), investigates how stadiums have impacted the experience of the city since World War II. He is currently developing a project that examines the ways craft beer has reshaped the urban landscape since the 1970s.
