With a grant from the Office of the Provost and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Catherine Besteman and colleagues from the Maine College of Art offered a symposium on ART+POLITICS at the Maine College of Art. The symposium was part of the statewide Making Migration Visible Initiative co-curated by Besteman and artist Julie Poitras Santos and addressed the question of how art sparks social change. It featured presentations by art leaders Sharon Corwin, Laura Freid, Eric Gottesman, Daniel Minter, Ellen Tani, Reza Jalali, Cinnamon Catlin-Legutko, Darren Ranco, Julia Brown, Yu-Wen Wu, and Hope Rovelto.
