Professor Catherine Besteman worked with students Chloé Powers ’19 and Caroline Webb ’19 to curate the exhibition Seeing Otherwise, at the Colby College Museum of Art from October 16 to November 4, 2018.The exhibition explores relationships between displacement and reinvention, inclusion and exclusion, presence and absence, and the multilayered presence of the past seeping into the present. Featured artists include Romare Bearden, Phong Bui, Lalla Essaydi, Whitfield Lovell, Meleko Mokgosi, Richard Mosse, Fred Wilson, Leo Rubinfien, and Alfred Stieglitz.
