Bradley Borthwick (Assistant Professor of Sculpture, Art Department) has been selected to exhibit new work in the 2015 Portland Museum of Art Biennial. Borthwick’s studio practice utilizes materials research and simple tools to find context and hone craft in his sculptural process. The three sculptures Borthwick includes in this exhibition present a study of Japanese architectural tradition known as Minka and reengage within a Japanese discipline known as Judo.
Opening October 8, 2015, You Can’t Get There From Here: The 2015 Portland Museum of Art Biennial highlights Maine’s artistic legacies in the making. Curated by Alison Ferris, this year’s Biennial provides a comprehensive overview of the many facets of Maine’s contemporary art scene. The exhibition will be on view through January 3, 2016.
