Green curates Robert Adams exhibit at Colby

Turning Back: A Photographic Journal of Re-Exploration by the American landscape photographer Robert Adams opens Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Colby College Museum of Art. Curated by Associate Professor of Art Gary Green, the exhibition contains 164 photographs by Adams, who made the work to coincide with the bicentennial of Lewis and Clark’s journey to the American West. Adams’s quietly powerful work questions what the US has done with the land since their exploration of the Pacific Northwest, and where we might look for hope in what has been left to us. The exhibit is part of Colby’s 2015-16 Arts and Humanities theme, Human/Nature, which Green co-organized. He will give a gallery talk at the museum on Tuesday, February 11, beginning at noon. You can read more about Turning Back in the Portland Press Herald and on the Colby Museum’s website.
