To install the Agilent Jet Stream ESI
Step 1: ESI pieces are found in a cardboard box on a shelf at the front of the room, to the left of the door.
Step 2: Install the spray shield this is the small nut like piece which screws over the opening where the spray enters the MS.
Step 3: Remove protective plastic cover from the nebulizer and return it to the storage box. To remove it shift it back and lift off.
Step 4: Slip interface over hinge pins on the MS.
Step 5: Connect the tubing for the nebulizer to the black T connector.
Step 6: Connect the jet spray (sheath) tubing.
Step 7: Connect the electrical cords for the heater and voltage plates. The plugs need the proper orientation to connect. For the thicker heater cord plug in the cord first the twist the silver collar until snug. If it is tightened firmly it will become difficult to remove. The thinner cord connects to the top of two possible plug-ins, as this one has two connection points with it the plug and the lower, labeled Corona will not fit. The open grove/key to the plug should face upwards as should the yellow markings. Once connected give the black and yellow collar a slight twist to match the arrow on the cord.
Step 8: Connect the (beige) reference tubing to the nebulizer, which protrudes from the rear of the ESI at an angle. Connect nebulizer gas line.
Step 9: On the MS-TOF tab, in the method pane select ESI and then Apply to turn on sheath gas.
Step 10: Click ON to begin warming up the instrument.
