Self-Designed Major
With the help of the Cinema Studies Program, Colby students have developed self-designed majors in digital media production, film history and theory, and various combinations of both.
Recent students with self-designed majors in cinema studies are pursuing a variety of opportunities related to media.
- Matthew Von Vogt (2011). After earning a master’s degree in Cinema Studies at the University of Chicago, Matt is completing a Ph.D. at Indiana University.
- Michael Perreault (2013). Michael’s thesis was titled “Notes on the Politics of the Auteur: Stanley Kubrick, Wes Anderson, and the Spectator.” He is now the Executive Director of the Maine Film Center.
- Megan Lasher (2015). For her capstone project, Megan wrote and directed four short films.
- Casey Coulter (2016). Casey’s capstone project included short films and photographic works depicting Iceland. He currently works for an advertising firm in Chicago and continues to make independent films.
