Research
Research is an integral part of the undergraduate education in all of Colby’s academic divisions, and Jan Plan offers excellent opportunities for focused and intensive research under the supervision of a Colby faculty member. Opportunities include laboratory experience, social science research, artistic production and performance, and academic research for publications or scholarly presentations in any discipline. The College has some endowed research fellowships for students, and members of the faculty also receive competitive grants that include funding for research aides. Jan Plan research can be part of a longer study that occupies one or more semesters or it can be a discrete project. The Colby Liberal Arts Symposium, held each spring, is an opportunity for researchers to present their findings publicly.
