Lab Alumni and Awards
Several students have been recognized for their work, either related to the lab or their own research.
Cole Walsh, ’19, won the Koster Award for Best Abstract and Best Presentation at the Colby Undergraduate Summer Research Retreat in 2017.
Julia Blumenstyk, ’14, won the Koster Award for Best Abstract at the Colby Undergraduate Summer Research Retreat in 2012.
Dana Breakstone, ’10, won the Best Poster Award at the Colby Undergraduate Summer Research Retreat in 2009.
Nina Gold, ’09, won the Erlbaum Prize for the Best Paper in Cognitive Science for work on 3- to 5-year-old children’s understanding of age. This is a national competition hosted by Psi Chi, the honorary society for Psychology. This project was completed in PS 347-348 (Seminar and Collaborative Research in Cognitive Development). Nina completed her medical degree at Harvard University.
Students have graduated and gone off into a variety of directions after Colby. Some have continued to do research (either as a Research Assistant – RA – or in graduate school), others have become teachers or pursued careers in the health professions, and others show the flexibility of the psychology major in other careers, including law and the business sector.
