Heritage Learner Program
Did you grow up speaking or hearing Spanish at home? Then you are a Spanish heritage speaker! A Spanish heritage speaker typically acquires the language within the privacy and intimacy of the home and in conversation with family members. Once heritage speakers start school, the development of reading and writing skills are often only developed in English and not in Spanish. At Colby, our SP127H and SP131H classes give you the opportunity to learn the language in an academic setting by developing your biliteracy skills while celebrating your cultural connections.
