A few of the classrooms at Colby are equipped with video recording technology.  These videos can be scheduled to align with your class; or, you can record at will.  Please follow the steps outlined below to get started.

Miller 008

  1. In Miller 008 (on the Street level), you will see the instructor’s station.  Start up the system using the touch panel.
  2. When you are ready, press the record button in the equipment rack.  You will see the camera and TVs turn on.
  3. Sound is picked up automatically from an in-ceiling microphone.  For confirmation that audio is being recorded, you can see green lights bouncing up and down in the audio meter.
  4. There are three camera presets you can use.  Zooming in with presets 2 and 3 will show their area in better detail, helping students to better read the content.
    1. Wide (Press preset 1 on the remote)— This default setting will show the whole whiteboard and the projector.
    2. Whiteboard (Preset 2 on the remote) — This shows a closer view of a section of the whiteboard.
    3. Projector (Preset 3 on the remote) — This is a way to show just what is on the projector.
  5. When you are finished, press the stop button on the equipment rack.
  6. Email Academic ITS to retrieve your video file.

Keyes 105

  2. It is critical to turn on the wireless lavalier microphone and clip it to your shirt.

  4. To change what’s being recorded, tap “Send To > Video Stream” in the top right, followed by your input source.  The default is to record the camera.
