WordPress is the web content management system for the official Colby web site (www.colby.edu) and the Colby community web site (web.colby.edu). Administrative offices and academic departments have pages on the official site that authorized individuals may edit. All members of the community may use the community site for personal and course-based web site projects. To create a site, email [email protected].

Updating from WordPress 4

What will stay the same?

Day-to-day admin functions — Adding Media, Managing Comments, Choosing Themes/Plugins, Managing Users, Tools & Settings — will all remain the same.

What will change?

The classic content editor, where you create and edit posts, is being replaced by the Gutenberg editor, a block-based editor (you may choose to activate the Classic Editor plugin).

Learning WordPress 5 – Gutenberg

Gutenberg is the new WordPress post and page editor, replacing the classic editor. With the Gutenberg editor, content is driven by blocks with each piece of content forming a foundation of individual blocks. There are paragraph blocks, image blocks, header blocks, blocks for formatting and layout, blocks for embedded content, and widget blocks. You can also create your own reusable blocks.
